AI Credits for Startups in 2026: Every Program Worth Applying To

AI credits for startups come from three places in 2026: the cloud programs (Google for Startups Cloud with up to $350,000 including Gemini, AWS Activate with up to $200,000 for Bedrock, and Microsoft for Startups with up to $150,000 for Azure), the model labs (Anthropic and OpenAI, which now route their credits mainly through partner VCs), and specialist AI infrastructure (ElevenLabs, Modal, Pinecone, NVIDIA Inception, Cloudflare Workers AI and TinyFish for web data). If you're unfunded, the cloud programs' smaller tiers, ElevenLabs' grant and TinyFish Tier 1 are your best routes. If you have a VC, ask them for their perks list first: that's where the largest model credits live now.

Building an AI product that needs live web data? Apply to TinyFish for Startups: free TinySearch and TinyFetch at 4x rate limits and agent credits, up to $12,000 in value.

We're TinyFish, and our startup program is one of the entries below. Every other figure here comes from the provider's own startup page, checked in October 2026. Where a provider doesn't publish an amount, we say so instead of guessing. For credits beyond AI (CRM, analytics, hosting), see our full list of startup credits.

How we grouped these: by the layer of your AI stack the credits pay for (models, voice, compute, retrieval and data, observability), since you'll likely need one program from each.

Model credits: the labs and the clouds

Google for Startups Cloud (Gemini)

What you get: AI startups can get 100% of Google Cloud usage covered up to $250,000 in year one, then 20% up to another $100,000 in year two: up to $350,000 in total. The program includes credits for Google's own frontier models, Gemini and Gemma.

Who qualifies: the funded tiers need verifiable Pre-Seed to Series A funding from a known investor, and a company founded in the last 3 to 5 years depending on tier. A $2,000 Start tier covers newer startups with a working MVP that plan to raise. Your email domain must match your website.

Where it falls short: third-party models bought through Model Garden or the Cloud Marketplace aren't covered, so this pays for Gemini, not Claude-on-Vertex.

Good to know: the Gemini Developer API also has a free tier with rate limits, which is enough to prototype before you apply.

Apply: cloud.google.com/startup

AWS Activate (Amazon Bedrock)

What you get: credits for any AWS service, including Amazon Bedrock, which hosts models from several labs. Activate Founders gives self-funded startups $1,000, rising to $5,000 for select participants. Activate Portfolio gives up to $200,000 with an Organization ID from an Activate Provider. Invite-only AWS Credits for AI Startups go above $200,000 for startups scaling past Portfolio.

Who qualifies: pre-Series B, founded in the last 10 years, with an AWS account on the paid tier.

Where it falls short: the big number depends on your investor being an Activate Provider. Check with them before applying.

Apply: aws.amazon.com/startups/credits

Microsoft for Startups (Azure AI)

What you get: up to $150,000 in credits across eligible Azure services, including Microsoft's AI models, according to Microsoft's startups page in October 2026.

Who qualifies: the largest amounts go to startups referred through Microsoft's Investor Network.

Where it falls short: Microsoft has restructured this program several times and outside guides quote figures from $5,000 to $200,000. Confirm your tier in the application.

Apply: microsoft.com/startups

Anthropic (Claude for Startups)

What you get: Anthropic's startup page says founders backed by its partner VCs may be eligible for up to $100K in additional Claude API credits, claimed through the VC. Members of the Claude Startups program also get discounts and credits worth up to $45,000 from companies building with Claude, plus group sessions with Anthropic's Applied AI team and events.

Who qualifies: the API credits come through your VC. The direct Claude Startups program's current cohort is full, and Anthropic says it isn't accepting new applications right now (as of October 2026). You can subscribe to its startup newsletter to hear when the next cohort opens.

Where it falls short: if your investor isn't an Anthropic partner, there's currently no direct credit route. The credits apply to the first-party Claude API through Claude Console.

Apply: ask your VC, or watch claude.com/programs/startups

OpenAI for Startups

What you get: OpenAI's startups page says founders can "unlock credits and dedicated support through eligible VC partners", plus technical and go-to-market support for VC-backed startups. OpenAI doesn't publish the credit amount.

Who qualifies: startups backed by an OpenAI VC partner.

Where it falls short: there's no self-serve application. Figures you'll see elsewhere online, from $2,500 to $100,000, aren't on OpenAI's own page, so treat them as unconfirmed.

Apply: through your VC; see openai.com/startups

Voice and media credits

ElevenLabs Startup Grants

What you get: 33,000,000 characters of ElevenLabs usage over 12 months, which ElevenLabs values at more than $5,500, with access to the full platform including its conversational AI agents.

Who qualifies: startups and small companies with fewer than 25 employees, anywhere in the world, per ElevenLabs' own announcement. Companies on enterprise plans aren't eligible.

Where it falls short: ElevenLabs doesn't award grants for projects aimed at children, and characters can't be exchanged or resold.

Apply: elevenlabs.io/startup-grants

Compute and inference credits

Modal for Startups

What you get: free GPU credits ("thousands", in Modal's words) plus technical support, as a one-time grant per tier. Custom deals for fast-growing AI companies.

Who qualifies: new Modal customers that have raised any amount from a Modal VC partner, or more than $1M from any fund. The scaling tier is for companies with more than $30M raised or post-Series B.

Apply: modal.com/startups

Cloudflare Workers AI

What you get: Cloudflare for Startups credits cover Workers AI inference up to $2,500, $10,000 or $50,000 depending on your tier, inside an overall grant of $10,000 to $350,000 for one year.

Who qualifies: startups funded up to Series B. The entry tier ($10,000 total) is for bootstrapped teams with under $1M raised.

Where it falls short: AI Gateway is temporarily not covered by credits.

Apply: cloudflare.com/forstartups

NVIDIA Inception

What you get: no direct cash credits from NVIDIA, but members can request preferred pricing on NVIDIA hardware and software, free cloud credits from NVIDIA's partners, technical training and introductions to its VC Alliance.

Who qualifies: AI startups at any funding stage. There are no fees, deadlines or cohorts.

Apply: nvidia.com/startups

Retrieval and data credits

TinyFish for Startups (live web data)

What it is: our program. TinyFish is one API that gives AI agents and products the live web: TinySearch for ranked results, TinyFetch for clean page content, TinyAgent for goal-based actions on real sites, TinyBrowser for remote sessions and TinyMonitor for change alerts.

What you get: Tier 1 (up to $7,000) gives free TinySearch and TinyFetch at 4x rate limits (120 searches and 600 URLs a minute) for 6 months, $100 in your wallet every month for 6 months and 50 concurrent agent and browser runs. Tier 2 (up to $12,000) gives free Search and Fetch at 4x limits for a year, 50% off TinyAgent and TinyBrowser for 24 months and $500 to start.

Who qualifies: Tier 1 for independent, pre-production teams with no accelerator or investors; Tier 2 for startups backed by an accelerator, VC or angels, with proof.

Where it falls short: it's for products that read or act on websites. If your AI app only works on your own data, you don't need it.

Apply: tinyfish.chat/startups, or read the full TinyFish for Startups guide.

Pinecone for Startups

What you get: free access to Pinecone's Standard tier with Pro Support (any cloud and region, RBAC, backups, a dedicated Slack channel), plus usage credits and discounts.

Who qualifies: fewer than 100 employees and Series A or earlier.

Apply: pinecone.io/startup-program

MongoDB for Startups (Atlas + Voyage AI)

What you get: Atlas credits and Voyage AI embedding tokens in four tiers, for 12 months. MongoDB doesn't publish the amounts.

Who qualifies: less than 7 years old, Series A or earlier, building a single software product.

Apply: mongodb.com/startups

Observability for AI products

Two analytics programs now cover AI-specific tooling:

  • PostHog for Startups: $50,000 for 12 months, which still covers AI observability, but no longer PostHog's own AI assistant tools (since September 14, 2026). Under 2 years old and under $5M raised. posthog.com/startups
  • Datadog for Startups: up to $100,000 for a year, including LLM observability. Series A or earlier, partner referral required. datadoghq.com/partner/datadog-for-startups

How to build an AI credits stack

A realistic stack for a funded seed-stage AI startup looks like this:

  1. One cloud program for the model you'll use most: Google for Gemini, AWS for Bedrock or Azure for Microsoft's models.
  2. Lab credits through your VC for the model you'll use second, from Anthropic or OpenAI.
  3. Specialist credits for the parts the clouds don't do well: voice (ElevenLabs), GPUs (Modal), vector search (Pinecone) and web data (TinyFish).
  4. Observability credits (PostHog or Datadog) so you can see what the credits are buying.

If you're unfunded, start with the Gemini free tier, AWS Activate Founders, Cloudflare's $10,000 tier, the ElevenLabs grant and TinyFish Tier 1. That's enough to get a real product in front of users before you raise.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Building around one lab's credits. Credits run out in a year; switching models later is harder than designing for it now. Keep your model layer swappable.
  • Ignoring third-party exclusions. Google's credits don't cover third-party models on Model Garden, and Cloudflare's don't cover AI Gateway.
  • Applying before you have a website. Google, DigitalOcean and most others reject stealth companies with no public site.
  • Burning credits on evals. Benchmark runs and big batch jobs can eat a grant in weeks. Cap spend per project.

What's changed recently

  • The model labs moved behind VCs. OpenAI and Anthropic both now route their main startup credits through partner investors, and Anthropic's direct cohort is full.
  • Google split AI from non-AI startups, giving AI companies up to $250,000 in year one versus $100,000.
  • Cloudflare raised its caps, including Workers AI coverage of up to $50,000 at the top tier.
  • Web data got its own startup program with TinyFish for Startups.
Your agents need the web. Apply to TinyFish for Startups: Tier 1 needs no funding, Tier 2 is worth up to $12,000.
